This post is going to be brief but the message is not to be taken lightly.
In chapter 5, Mark Manson urges us to take responsibility for our lives, This seems strange. Of course, we are responsible for our lives! But we don’t understand this concept completely. Taking responsibility means taking charge of every response and decision that we make in our lives. Whether it is something positive like charity work or something negative like a loss of temperament, we must take responsibility of each action.
Once we start analyzing our behavior and decisions, we start to see our mistakes and shortcomings. This self awareness helps us improve ourselves.
Taking responsibility demands that we do not blame others for our problems. Considering yourself a victim gives us short term relief but in the long run, it is detrimental to our well-being because we cannot control the behavior of other people and when we cannot control things, we feel “not in control” ultimately leading to depression.
So take responsibility for your life and strive to live the life you have always wanted to.
